Navigating one's way from school to work is a difficult task for anyone. Finding out
what you are good at and what you want to do is even more difficult when you don't have much experience or have trouble making
use of others experience due to communication or understanding barriers.
Transition Services
try to help bridge the gap for students and parents alike by providing some of those experiences and offering information
regarding services that will be available once the person graduates.
Comment from recent CARF survey
summary:
"Northern Transitions is commended for taking the initiative in helping
the Eastern Upper Peninsula Intermediate School District and 2 others to develop a "Transition Smart" program to
help students with disabilities and others organize a job fair to link students with local employers. This has become a statewide
model for transition services and is unique in that it is student run with the assistance of organizational staff members.
In this and so many other areas, Northern Transitions has been sensitive to community stakeholder needs and designed a program
to fill that need."
